The Department of Military Affairs, with the concurrence of all the three services of the Indian Armed Forces, has proposed to give Ex-Servicemen title and pension to disabled Ex-cadets, Ex-Servicemen Welfare Department is considering it. Under this proposal, disabled cadets will get a pension of the lieutenant rank officers and benefits of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme and army group insurance fund
Why government will give the status of ex-servicemen and pension to disabled ex-cadets and what is the meaning of disabled ex-cadets
We all know that if you want to become an officer in the Indian armed forces you have to complete your training in a military Academy like NDA, OTA, INA, etc. Where you become a brave warrior but sometimes cadets become disabled during academic training due to getting extreme injuries in accidents Then those cadets are expelled from the academy without giving any disability pension, medical support, and status of ex-servicemen and those disabled ex-cadets live their whole life on a wheelchair, ventilators, etc.
We all know that joining the military Academy is not easy for everyone only a few can join who have Courage. Most of the cadets come from middle-class families and you can imagine how these families will be living how their dreams were broken. These disabled ex-cadets demands to get status of Ex-Servicemen, proper medical support from Military hospitals and other facilities which an Ex-Servicemen gets. According to some reports, there are around 350 ex-cadets who becomes disable since 1985, it is very easy for government to provide facilities to these disabled ex-cadets but still, the government is not doing anything for these ex-cadets
